Remembered by Penny and Shawn Lykins

Launching off a couch and ‘showing off’.. That was our first time seeing Winnie. She was just an 8 week-old puppy with a family that did not want her anymore. Shocked at the wonderful opportunity to give her a loving home, Winnie became ours. My husband, Shawn, quickly took Winnie under his wing for rearing. With unconditional love, treats, light pestering and rubbing her ‘crust nose’ constantly…Winnie lived life always at Shawn’s side as his ‘Best Pug Ever’. Winnie enjoyed a life well lived with soft blankets, Lazy Boy recliners, sleeping at night with us, and of course..lots of treats. Even when diabetes and blindness came her way, Winnie made each day a joy with her larger than life personality, snorts, slobbering sounds while eating and drinking, and barking when she wanted more treats. Are you noticing a pattern here? 🙂
Lastly, Winnie had the ears of a Gremlin…they were large and velvety and would blow open in the breeze. This feature only added to her wonderful ‘good looks’ and crusty-ness. A face only a true Pug Owner could love. She was truly unique. The Westminister Kennel Club be damned, our Winnie was gorgeous in her own unique way. Our beloved Winnie was taken from us too soon but we have peace knowing we loved her each and every day during her 17 Earthly years. Winnie will have the company of our heavenly pugs, Pigger and Stinkpot, and is survived by her younger ‘sister’ Pickle Pug.
Enjoy all that is Pug Heaven, precious Winnie. May you have all the french fries, hot dogs, ribs, and cheese that you want. We miss you terribly but can’t wait for our time to meet you again at the Rainbow Bridge. We will have your favorite cheese and blanket.
