Remembering & Honoring Your Pet: National Pet Memorial Day

by | Sep 2, 2023

Each year, on the second Sunday in September (this year September 11).

We are called to remember the significant and important roles our pets play in our lives.

Specifically, it’s a time to remember those who have passed away and reflect on the impact they had on each of us.

You may have your own way of remembering your furry family members, but here are some ways you can continue to honor them.

1) Plant a tree or bush. This is a great way to improve the look of your property while honoring the life of your pet. As it grows, either of these will be a visual reminder of your precious friendship.

2) Volunteer. So many organizations today need help, and volunteers can be just the ticket! Select a local shelter or rescue and volunteer your time and talent to help them in their mission.

3) Make a donation: In addition to using your assistance, many non-profit organizations would benefit from a monetary donation. Remember, even a small amount can make a big difference.

4) Adopt or foster: While the timing on this has to be right for you, you may consider fostering a pet in need of a safe place. Of course, if it works out well, you may consider adoption as a way to help a sweet pet in need of a home.

Regardless of how you remember your pet this National Pet Memorial Day, remember the importance they have played in your life. This will keep them alive and well in your heart & memory.
